Marcos Antonio's story

Marcos is a young man who is 24 years of age and lives with his family in a neighborhood in the northern region of Honduras. His wife is a homemaker and they have two children.

From an early age he has been harvesting malanga [a root crop similar to taro] and cassava, crops that are cultivated on fertile land belonging to him and his relatives. With great sacrifice, Marcos has been able to expand his crops. He also works for a private company that pays him minimum wage.

Marcos is a responsible and determined individual. He is requesting a loan to maintain his malanga and cassava crops. Marcos will buy fertilizer and compost so that he can harvest a better quality product. This will result in good earnings that will benefit his family’s lifestyle at home and provide a good education for his two children so that they can have greater opportunities in life.
