Ruth's loan finished fundraising, but these other borrowers need your support

A loan helped to buy more poultry to increase her production and meet the rising demand which will increase profits leading to tremendous transformation for her family.

Ruth's story

If Ruth’s dreams were to become a reality today, it would not be through magic but through the hard work and determination that she puts into her farming venture.

Agriculture plays a major role in the economic growth of Kenya through poverty reduction and creation of employment. For this reason, there is a need to invest in smallholder farmers such as Ruth since they play a major role in transforming the economy. Ruth is an experienced dairy and poultry farmer. She continually instructs other residents to take on poultry farming as the demand for poultry products is always rising, which means a ready market. She keeps her birds in 2 story houses with a tray to collect droppings. Proceeds from the business have helped her pay fees for her children who are currently attending at a local public school. The rich poultry manure finds its way to her garden where she grows different vegetables.

Ruth lacks funds to increase her poultry farming. Therefore she is seeking a loan of KES 50,000 to buy poultry. Being a woman seeking to access funds is very challenging, but through institutions such as Juhudi Kilimo, via Kiva, she feels relieved knowing that her dream will be achieved and that she will be able to buy more poultry. The extra income will be used to fully repay the loan. Ruth is so thankful to have a chance like this Kiva loan. She hopes for your help and warm response.
