Total loan: $200

Maua, Meru County, Kenya / Food

Susan's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy different varieties of cereals such as cow peas, lentils, sorghum and barley so that she can sell them to her customers and use the profits to improve her living standards.

Susan's story

Susan (pictured in her simple house) is a mom who is known in her village because of her bubbly nature and her jovial smile. She was born in one of the poorest families in Maua, Kenya. She has worked hard to change her family’s fortunes. Susan is blessed with cute and well-disciplined children.

It is through farming that Susan is able to provide decent meals in her home. She loves attending to various farming activities such as spraying, irrigation, harvest, and rearing her livestock (cattle and poultry).

She has been farming for the last 10 years. The income she makes from selling milk and eggs is used to provide for the basic needs of her family. Her clients enjoy the quality of milk and crops that she sells to them. Though she has gathered much experience in this business, she is not comfortable with the little she earns after having invested so much of her time and effort.

Susan has decided to borrow a loan which she will use to buy different varieties of cereals from local farmers and sell them to her customers and at the local market. Through this engagement, she will earn a commission that she intends to use to repay the loan and elevate her standard of living.

Thanks to Juhudi Kilimo and Kiva, the life of Susan and her aging parents and children will be changed through this loan.
