A loan helped to buy farm inputs such as seeds and fertilizer for use in her farm, so she can earn profits to use to improve her standard of living.

Philis's story

Greetings from Bungoma, Kenya!

Philis, at the age of 37, is a woman of honesty who has a charming character. She is the mother of lovely children and is a rural smallholder farmer from the area of Bungoma Kenya.

Philis is married to a fellow farmer. Her family's main income source is milk from their dairy farm. However, they are also involved in other agricultural activities such as growing horticulture, beans, vegetables, fruits and other grains.

The biggest problem that farmers from her village face is the huge deficit in terms of access to agricultural inputs, meaning that farmers' yields and incomes are far below what they could be.

Juhudi Kilimo partnered with Kiva to provide financial services to smallholders around Kenya. Through these financial services, farmers from Bungoma, like Philis, can now buy productive assets and important agricultural inputs for use on their farms. Philis is seeking a loan to buy farm inputs such as seeds and fertilizer to improve her horticulture farm.

Your loan will enable her to improve her production through the use of quality farm inputs. This intervention will help her meet the increasing demand for horticulture in the market and, in the process, generate more income to repay the loan debt and improve her family's quality of life. She also hopes to improve the conditions of her house.

Philis, her husband and children highly rely on the goodwill of lenders so that they can achieve their dreams. Take action and lend now!
