A loan helped to buy more used clothes, such as sweaters, for her weaving business.

Riffat's story

Riffat is a 55-year-old married woman who lives in the area of Lahore, Pakistan. She is married and has five children. She has a weaving business; her daughter helps and her son sometimes helps. She works out of her home. Her husband is a painter and provides white-wash services in the community, but the work is irregular. So, she has to prove herself a responsible and brave mother.

She has built a list of regular customers and makes enough to contribute to the family income. She takes used clothes, such as sweaters, and puts them into a machine that converts them into a rope shape. Riffat then uses this rope to weave. Now, her weaving materials have diminished and she wants to buy more materials, such as used cloth and sweaters.

To meet the increasing customer demand, Riffat has requested a loan from Kiva’s field partner BRAC Pakistan. She hopes that this loan will prove beneficial for her and for her family. She is very thankful to Kiva and BRAC Pakistan.
