A loan helped to buy farming inputs such as seeds and fertilizer to make profits and as a selfless single mother, to improve the quality of life for her family.

Truphena's story

Truphena is an ever-smiling and hardworking single mum. Her selfless nature and her love for work have enabled her to care for her family as the sole breadwinner. She is an inspiring female farmer from Eldoret, in the Great Rift Valley of Kenya, where she lives with her children. Truphena started farming ten years ago with an aim of providing for the basic needs of her family. She has done tremendous work in the field of agribusiness with her great passion and enthusiasm.

In Kenya, agriculture is one of the most competitive industries and especially due to the high costs of operations necessary to improve farming. Such costs include the cost of land acquisition and inputs which have always skyrocketed. To meet the high costs of inputs, farmers have been forced to borrow from financial institutions which sometimes impose very complicated procedures for loan distribution. Some farmers and especially women end up in hopelessness, despondency and with a lack of morale to invest in agriculture.

Truphena has decided to borrow a loan which she intends to use to buy farming inputs such as fertilizer and seeds. Your loan will enable her to improve her production through the use of quality farm inputs. This intervention will help her fill the increasing demand for food in the market and in the process, generate more income to repay the loan and improve the quality of life for her family. Truphena will consider this loan as a gesture of confidence in her abilities.
