José Natividad's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy a biodigester to power his farm and home with cow, pig, and bird manure.

José Natividad's story

Jose Natividad is a farmer in Santa Isabel Tetlatlahuca and has two cows, two pigs, and five birds. He lives with four family members, and the money earned from the farm is the main source of income to support his family. He dreams of reducing gas expenses.

Jose Natividad is currently spending too much money on the propane required to power his home for cooking and hot water. His twelve-cubic-meter Sistema Biobolsa biodigester will allow him to use the abundant manure of the nine animals on-site to produce biogas to replace propane. The biodigester will transform the "waste" into two important resources: methane-rich, renewable biogas and potent biofertilizer.

Not only will Jose Natividad use the biogas to cook and heat bathwater for his family, but he will also use the biofertilizer from the biodigester to increase yields on his crops. With this biofertilizer, he will no longer have to resort to expensive, petroleum-based agrochemical fertilizers.

This loan represents 69% of the total cost of the biodigester; the remaining part is covered by a government subsidy.
