Maria's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!
A loan helped buy a new food cart that allows me to have more products to offer my customers.
My name is Maria Ester and I am from Mexico. It's a pleasure for me to share a brief story of my life with you. I would also like to thank my English teacher Ana to give me the confidence to write in English. My childhood was happy and sad like for everybody. My mom worked a lot and I did not see her much. Since I was a kid I used to go around and sell tamales, Mexican Food and I also ironed and washed clothes. We were 6 between brothers and sisters and, although food never lacked, we learned how to work hard thanks to the lessons my mother taught us. I am 70 and I've been in Oakland for 27. I move to the United States so that my 8 kids had the chance of getting better education and opportunities. However I did not forget about my Mexican roots and still now I sell Mexican food and tamales. My dream is to meet again with my grandchildren and prepare their favorite food. They love abuelita's food.
