Teresiah's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy certified and hybrid seeds to improve her horticulture farming and elevate her life and help a woman who values education to support her children.

Teresiah's story

Teresiah is an enterprising woman who has been through many ups and downs in her quest for success. Though she has never enrolled in school, she is an accomplished farmer residing in a remote village in Kerugoya. In her village,

Teresiah is one of the most respected single women. She loves taking care of her dairy cow and sheep. Although she makes profits from farming, she is not comfortable and has always wanted to increase her income. Teresiah values education and wants all her children to graduate successfully.

She is seeking a loan to buy certified seeds and fertilizers in order to improve her horticultural farm.

With the loan, Teresiah will be assured of a good harvest, and this will translate into more profits and income. She wants what any mother would want for her children: a bright future.

Unlike most microfinance institutions in Kenya, which have imposed very complicated procedures in funds acquisition thereby discouraging smallholder farmers, Juhudi Kilimo is working closely with Kiva to make loan acquisition for a smallholder farmer easy and convenient. Through this intervention, movement of funds in the rural communities has increased, thereby alleviating rural poverty. Teresiah feels inspired to continue farming and motivated to improve her life now that she is a member of Juhudi Kilimo.

You can support Teresiah in making her dreams come true with a loan.
