Assiatu's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy rubber bowls, cups and food containers to sell to her customers.

Assiatu's story

Greetings from Masingbi, a community near a small and busy rural area in Sierra Leone. This is 45-year-old Assiatu, a married mother and businesswoman. She has three children. She started her business to create a means of survival.

Assiatu runs a retail business selling food containers, cups and rubber bowls at her community. Seemingly distinct businesses are often mixed in Sierra Leone, the idea being that a customer will come to purchase one thing, but will leave having purchased another. Assiatu has been a trader for 25 years. She desires to empower her life. She works six days per week and 12 hours per day.

Assiatu wants to use this loan to buy rubber bowls, cups and food containers to sell to her customers. She would like to open a big shop. She really wants to improve her life and is grateful to BRAC Sierra Leone and the Kiva community for their financial support.
