La Fe Toliman Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy a variety of high quality threads in many colors, as well as more personal care products.

La Fe Toliman Group's story

The objective of the seven Maya Kaqchikel ladies in the Friendship Bridge Trust Bank group called “La Fe Toliman” in the department of Solola, Guatemala is to bring better opportunities to their children, especially in education, so that they can become successful adults. These women work hard at their traditional textile and regional food businesses to earn funds to reach their goals. This is their second loan cycle with Kiva.

Gladys, a 40-year-old mother of three with a second grade education, is proud that her children attend high school and university. Six years ago, she began to weave traditional blouses and sell personal care products for men, women and children. She is requesting a Kiva loan to buy a variety of high quality threads in many colors, as well as more personal care products. She says, “I am successful because I have been able to earn an income. I have learned to save and cover many of our household expenses.”

The ladies meet monthly to make payments on their loans, offer each other support, participate in educational trainings (about business, health, family and women), and get health care services in a program called “Microcredit Plus.”

Gladys and the women are taking real steps toward empowering themselves and eliminating poverty. Kiva investors are essential in this process for funding loans. Thanks to each of you!
