Tara's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!
A loan helped us implement new marketing strategy, expand territory, hire more staff; thus increasing the number of Science, Technology, Engineering & Math enrichment programs to children inunderserved communities.
I was born and raised in Newark, NJ, and obtained my undergraduate degree in Mathematics from Duke University, and completed the Executive MBA program at Rutgers Business School in 2013. Prior to opening Brick City Bricks 4 Kidz, I served as a Subject Matter Expert in Employee Health & Welfare Benefits for large employers for nearly 20 years. When the company I worked for moved headquarters from NJ to CA, I wanted to do something that I loved. Since 1987, when the Hahnes & Co retail store closed, I've wanted to bring a children’s entertainment facility (i.e. Discovery Zone) and a chain restaurant (i.e. TGI Friday’s) to the ground floor of that building. So, while pursuing my MBA at Rutgers Business School, I wrote the business plan to fulfill my dream of “edu-tainment” business to Newark, where families could have parties for their children on the weekends and bring them for fun enrichment after school. Shortly after graduation in 2013, Brick City Bricks 4 Kidz opened and since then I've have won several entrepreneurship awards, pitch competitions and have been recognized by the community for the STEM Enrichment programs that I provide along with my staff. My ultimate goal is to have several Bricks 4 Kidz creativity centers in urban centers inspiring future engineers, scientist and Nobel prize winners, while also using up to 20% of profits to support families affected by autism and tuition help for our programs.
