Lamula's Group

Wakiso, Central Region, Uganda / Retail

Lamula's Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to purchase more salt, sugar, soap, and rice.

Lamula's Group's story

Lamula's Group is comprised of five hard working women. Lamula is 18 years old and lives in the town of Wakiso in the Nansana region of Uganda. For the past two years, Lamula has been working hard to manage her retail business, where she sells rice, sugar, soap, and salt.

To help expand her business, Lamula has requested a share of 3,700,000 Ugandan shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to purchase more salt, sugar, soap, and rice, and will help Lamula to generate greater profits. Increased profits will enable Lamula to afford more basic needs at home, improve on the standard of living at home, and support her siblings.

Lamula hopes that in the future she will be able to become a strong business lady.

Lamula is a member of BRAC's Empowerment and Livelihood for Adolescents (ELA) program. In addition to microfinance loans, the program provides both a safe place for young Ugandan women to take part in group activities, and a forum for life-skills training.
