Chembe Esther's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped clear her farm, buy seedlings, fertilizers, pesticides, pay for labor and buy fresh fish.

Chembe Esther's story

Chembe is a widow of five children with whom she lives in a five bedroom apartment in Bafut, North West Region of Cameroon. She has faced some challenges in life such as the death of loved ones, theft, fire, disaster and sickness among family members. She joined GHAPE in 2011 and has taken and repaid successfully four loans.

With the new loan requested she plans to invest in her farm land by acquiring farm inputs and pay for labor. In part she will also invest in fresh fish. She has a positive attitude that the business will succeed because it’s an activity she has been doing for a number of years.

She says her activity will help the community since she will shorten their distance from going to the city to buy fresh fish and her farm produce. With the profits to be gained from the loan, she will put back some into her activity, pay children’s school fees and cover the general upkeep of the family.

She prefers getting a loan from GHAPE because the repayment schedule is moderate, with low interest rates, and also the business knowledge she gets before receiving loans.
