Irene's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to purchase farm inputs (hybrid seeds and nutrient-rich fertilizers) to help a repeat Kiva borrower with good credit history produce a good harvest.

Irene's story

Irene (a repeat Kiva borrower) is a smallholder farmer who has an impeccable credit history. She is a brilliant, honest, hardworking 26-year-old Kenyan lady whose home is on a small farm in Nakuru. She gets a lot of help and support from her husband and their children running the crop, poultry, and dairy businesses.

In a bid to expand her farm, Irene is seeking a 100,000 KES loan to purchase farm inputs such as hybrid seeds and nutrient-rich fertilizers. Expansion of the farm will mean diversifying her production, and thus she will be able to grow many varieties of crops.

Increased output of her farm will lead to enormous profits, and thus Irene will be able to meet the basic needs of her family. She is an enterprising woman who wishes to establish a bigger agribusiness farm in the future and build a modern house that has electricity and a clean water connection.

Irene will also enjoy economies of scale after expanding her farm. Thus, she will buy farm materials and inputs at a cheaper price, compared to other sellers.

She is so thankful for you taking precious time out of your busy schedule to read through her short profile and for the lending opportunity. She promises not to let her lenders down.
