A loan helped to buy kitchenware.

Thiane's Group's story

This group is made up of 17 women who share a strong sense of solidarity and mutual aid. They live in the same village and took the opportunity to join the Banc Villageois when it was set up in the town in November 2012. Their main activity is trading on a small scale.

Anta, who is standing on the far right of the photo with her hand raised, is the group's representative. She is 48 years old, married and mother to three children, two of whom are boys aged 18 and nine years old respectively. She has a small business buying and selling kitchenware, and has more than ten years' experience in this domain.

With this new loan, she is going to buy buckets, bowls, cups and ice-boxes to resell in her village. With the profits she makes from her business, she is going to help her husband out more with the daily outgoings, and also boost her savings and her business.
