Miriam's loan finished fundraising, but these other borrowers need your support

A loan helped to buy different varieties of cereals such as cow peas, lentils, maize, beans, barley, and sorghum to sell and support her household.

Miriam's story

Miriam is a tireless and energetic woman who lives in the Kakamega area of Kenya. She is a self-driven mother who believes she has what it takes to make a difference in her remote village and farm. Her children are the greatest thing in her life and make her feel accomplished. She started practicing mixed farming eight years ago because of her drive.

In her village, Miriam practices mixed farming. She also has a small business. The income she makes from selling milk and eggs is used to meet the basic needs of her household. Though she has much experience in this business, she is not comfortable with the little amount she earns, since she is the only breadwinner in her household.

Miriam has decided to focus more of her attention on farming. She needs to increase her income through buying different varieties of cereals such as lentils, cowpeas, and maize from local farmers and selling them to her customers and at the local market. Through this engagement, she will earn a commission. She intends to use this to repay the loan and elevate her standard of living. Through the partnership between Juhudi and Kiva, Miriam is relieved that she will achieve her dreams.
