Tumana 1 Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to purchase at least 90 packs each of smoked milkfish and blackfin scad, as well dried milkfish, rabbitfish and sardines, to meet the increasing demand of her customers.

Tumana 1 Group's story

Marichu is 46 years old and a single mother to her daughter. To earn, Marichu has bought and sold smoked and dried fish for the last 18 years. She works hard to support not only their family's daily subsistence, but most importantly, to see through the education of her only daughter who is in college now.

She is thankful to be part of the 12-member group in their community which SEED Center Philippines has helped organize. With the group, she is able to see and meet other women who, like her, have their own struggles and dreams for themselves and their families. Each one of them works hard to support the education of their children.

With the rainy season coming, Marichu's goods are beginning to be high in demand. She is requesting a loan in order to purchase at least 90 packs each of smoked milkfish and blackfin scad, as well dried milkfish, rabbitfish and sardines. This will help her to meet the increasing demand of her customers. Part of the loan requested is to cover the business needs of the rest of the members of her group who, like Marichu, have small businesses.

Marichu's group is thankful to Kiva for this opportunity to expand their businesses, and in the process, help in fulfilling their dreams for their children.
