Teddy's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to purchase more Vaseline, soap, sugar and salt.

Teddy's story

Teddy is 23 years old and lives in the town of Mubende in the Kisekende region of Uganda. She has three children, with one of them currently in school. For the past 2 years, Teddy has been working hard to manage her retail shop, which sells Vaseline, soap, sugar and salt.

To help expand her business, Teddy has requested a loan of 800,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to purchase more Vaseline, soap, sugar and salt, and will help Teddy to generate greater profits from the expanded business. She will be able to pay school fees for her children and cater to her family's needs, hence improving their standard of living. Teddy hopes that in the future she will be able to buy a plot of land and build rentals.

Teddy is a member of BRAC's Empowerment and Livelihood for Adolescents (ELA) program. In addition to microfinance loans, the program provides a safe place for young Ugandan women to take part in group activities, and a forum for life-skills training.
