Maikale's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy some more materials for her business, and also to finish her new house so that they can move into it after the cyclone damage.

Maikale's story

Maikale is 68 years old. She's a widow and has three children and four grandchildren.

Maikale currently is running her business of handicrafts. She makes different types of handicrafts including fans, etc. She is self-employed and running her business at the market. She sells there to earn some income to help her family's living because she is the only one that is responsible to help look after her children ever since her husband passed away.

Last February, Tonga was struck by a very strong cyclone in the record. It affected most of the Tongan people's lives. Cyclone Gita destroyed half of the house's roof and wall and some of her business was destroyed. She applied for her rehabilitation loan from SPBD and used it to recover her business by buying some more materials for her business, and also to renovate her house from the cyclone damage.

Maikale has a vision for the future to increase her business and build a new house for her family.
