Hellen's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to purchase farm inputs (fertilizers and seeds) to boost her yields and improve her sales, so that she can have enough money to educate her children.

Hellen's story

Meet this lovely young mother, Hellen. She is an agricultural producer who resides in a humble village in Litein. In her village, poverty is very common among residents, especially those who still look forward to getting a white collar job. Hellen has advanced to become one of the most respected women in Litein. Farming is the main economic activity in her village. In Litein, smallholder farmers have dominated the region, undertaking various farming activities on their farms. Unfortunately, these farmers face many challenges, including the high cost of farm inputs.

Unlike most micro-finance organisations in Kenya, which have imposed very complicated procedures in fund acquisition and thereby discouraged smallholder farmers, Juhudi Kilimo is working closely with Kiva to make loan acquisition for a smallholder farmer easy and convenient. Through this intervention, the movement of funds in rural communities has increased, thereby alleviating rural poverty. Hellen requested a loan which she will use to buy farm inputs such as certified seed and nutrient-rich fertilizer.

Hellen hopes for your unselfish support and is very thankful in advance.
