Daphina's story

Greetings from Bungoma, Kenya!

This is Daphina, a 26-year-old mother who is a picture of beauty and has a captivating smile. Daphina is the true definition of a hard worker and a happy mother. She is a farmer in Bungoma, an area endowed with natural streams. She grows maize, raises poultry and engages in dairy farming, producing milk and eggs for commercial purposes, as opposed to many rural farmers who produce only for subsistence. She decided to invest everything in farming and stopped looking for a collar job. That became her turning point. Since then she has recorded constant progress in her life, and she doesn’t complain about anything. Daphina has always had a passion for farming. She is a very proud farmer, especially when she is milking her cows that produce 10-15 liters of milk per day.

As a result of the fluctuation of prices for horticultural crops, and the change in industrial trends, Daphina is seeking a way out. She has decided to start selling cereals in her local market. However, with her little savings, she is unable to purchase different varieties of cereals such as maize, wheat, rice, sorghum and millet. That is why she is seeking this Kiva loan. She promises to repay this loan as soon as her business breaks even.
