A loan helped to purchase more palm oil and local food to increase her business.

Ramatu's story

This is 48 year old Ramatu from Waterloo2. She is married with 4 children. Her children are currently attending school.

Ramatu established a palm oil business. Palm oil is red in color and is the cornerstone of Sierra Leonean cuisine. It is used as the base for spicy stews. Good quality oil is said to be high in antioxidants. The oil is usually sold in yellow plastic cans. Borrowers like Ramatu save money when they buy their oil in bulk.

She has been running this business for some years now. Her business is the only source of income she has.

Ramatu requested this loan from BRAC to purchase more palm oil and local food to increase her business. Her main challenge to the business is the poor road network and transportation of goods. She says that the extra income from this loan will help her to educate and take care of her children. In the future, she plans to expand her business into a bigger one. She thanks you for your support.
