A loan helped to buy some materials to renovate her house to recover from the cyclone damage.

Sisi'uhila's story

Sisi'uhila is 26 years old and a married woman with two children. Her business is tapa making. She sells tapa and table mats sometimes in order to earn some income for her. Her husband is her only helper in his free time. She used to sell out her business at home or at the market and sometimes on the internet.

Last February Tonga was struck by a very strong cyclone named Gita which affected most of the Tongan people's lives. Sisi'uhila's house was damaged by the cyclone. At the same time she faced challenges of lack of funds for her business. The demands of her clients are increasing and she can't afford to hire more employees. She applied for a rehabilitation loan and used it to renovate her house to recover from cyclone damage and also to help recover her business. In the future she has a vision to renovate her house and also wishes to build a new house in town for her business.
