Lilio's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy more tobacco seedlings to grow on her plantation and to hire people to help her on her plantation.

Lilio's story

Lilio is 49 years old and is married with two children, who both currently attend school. She runs a business growing tobacco, preparing it for sale, and selling it to her customers. Her husband helps her to grow tobacco on their plantation in her village.

They harvest the tobacco when it is one or two months old. They cut the leaves and dry them in the sun and then crush them and put the tobacco in a little plastic bag, as shown in the photograph. She sells her tobacco and earns weekly from it.

She faces the challenge of lack of money to hire people to help her in preparing the tobacco to sell. She had a loan at SPBD and used it to buy some more tobacco seedlings to grow. Lilio's vision for the future is to educate her children for a better future.
