'Emeline's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy iron roof to recover her house from cyclone damage, and also to buy some materials that she will use for her business.

'Emeline's story

'Emeline is 79 years old. She is divorced and has six children and nine grandchildren. Seven of her children are currently attending school.

Her business is tapa making. She can't afford to hire someone to help her, and only her daughter is helping her in her business. 'Emeline has some customers that she used to sell her tapa to, and earned money to help fulfill her responsibilities to her children and also her grandchildren. Last February, Tonga was struck by a very strong cyclone named Gita, which affected most of Tongan people's lives. Gita damaged her house's roof and allowed the rain water to go through the house. It destroyed all her tapa and finished goods inside.

She also faces challenges. She is getting old. Before, she managed to make two tapa within a month, but now she manages to make only one a month. She applied for a rehabilitation loan and used it to buy some roofing iron to fix her house and also some other materials that she'll use in her business.

Her vision for the future is to always provide for her family, and for her grandchildren to be well educated.
