Hadijah's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

Hadijah's story

Hadijah is 23 years old and lives in the town of Bulenga in the Kiyinda region of Uganda. She is single and has one child. For the past four years, Hadijah has been working hard to manage her soft drinks business, where she sells sodas and water.

To help expand her business, Hadijah has requested a loan of 400,000 Ugandan shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to purchase a fridge, and will help Hadijah to generate greater profits.

Due to increased sales, Hadijah's business will expand, thereby resulting in an increase in income. Therefore, she will be able to provide basic needs for her family and pay tuition fees for her child. Hadijah hopes that in the future she will be able to buy a large plot of land.

Hadijah is a member of BRAC's Empowerment and Livelihood for Adolescents (ELA) program. In addition to microfinance loans, the program provides both a safe place for young Ugandan women to take part in group activities, and a forum for life-skills training.
