Alejandro's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped Alex pay for his programming education to secure a career path in Mexico as a returned migrant from the US.

Alejandro's story

Alex moved to Oregon in the US at the age of 7. He enjoyed nature a lot, and still has a passion for the outdoors and training dogs. While Alex enjoyed his childhood and had many friends, all of this changed when he was forced to return with his mother at the age of 14. One of the biggest challenges for Alex was facing the reality of “returning” to a country that is completely new to him. Furthermore, the highest attainable careers for Alex were still really low-paid.

The lack of perspective was a massive blockage for Alex, but 5 months ago he changed this by enrolling in HolaCode. HolaCode is a programming bootcamp operating as a social enterprise, where the main goal is to work with refugees, deported and returned migrants from the US, to provide training and help secure a highly lucrative career path in Mexico’s tech sector. An opportunity like this one is truly different from an otherwise impoverished work option available to those in Alex’s situation.

Today, Alex wants to help out others that were in his situation. This is why he is seeking for a loan to pay for his HolaCode tuition, which will be used to invest in another student until he secures a career path in technology. The education improved Alex’s living condition greatly, as he now is able to earn 3 times the monthly income he used to make, guaranteeing a much better future perspective for himself and his family.
