Emanuel 2 Group's loan finished fundraising, but these other borrowers need your support

A loan helped to buy one pig and several chickens that she will fatten up and sell.

Emanuel 2 Group's story

Eight entrepreneurial ladies, members of the Friendship Bridge Trust Bank “Emanuel 2”, are requesting their 2nd KIVA loan. They are from the department/state of Quetzaltenango and speak their Maya language, Mam while others speak both Mam and Spanish. They have only one year of formal education and are highly motivated to care for their large families. The women have convenience stores and raise pigs.

Since they only have gone to school for one year, the ladies benefit greatly from their monthly educational training, part of the “Microcredit Plus” program of loans, education and healthcare services. They learn about how to manage their businesses best (planning, budgeting, investing), care for their families (nutrition, health, hygiene) and empower themselves (self esteem, women’s rights and roles).

A member of the Trust Bank is 32 year old Vivian, who is married with 7 children (3-15) and works alongside her husband to meet the needs of the family including their educational expenses. All the children go to school. Vivian has an animal husbandry business and is requesting a loan to buy one pig and several chickens that she will fatten up and sell. She is hopeful for a brighter future for the family.

Thank you, KIVA investors, for your generosity and kindness! The ladies are striving to empower themselves and eliminate poverty in their lives.
