Total loan: $900

Makaunga, Tongatapu, Tonga / Housing

Sesilia's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy new timbers and iron roofing to fix their house that was damaged by the cyclone.

Sesilia's story

Sesilia is the mother of five children, all of whom are currently attending school. She is married to a talented husband who can go fishing and farming on their plantation. Sesilia now runs two businesses, selling cakes that she makes and her husband's fishing business. To earn income for them she makes yeast cakes and sells them in their village.

In February this year Tonga was struck by a very strong cyclone named Gita which affected most Tongan people's lives. Sesilia's house was damaged by the cyclone. Their roof was half blown off. She applied for a rehabilitation loan and used it to recover their house from the cyclone damages. She's confident in running her business to get income to help pay back her loan and also to achieve her vision of educating her children so they will have a better life in the future.
