Audrey's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped would help us keep our beverage on the shelf. My goal is to expand and seek out other retailers, having this loan would give us an opportunity to build our inventory. We are also working on opening an online eCommerce business.

Audrey's story

I spent my formative years on a farm called Spicegrove, in a rural area in Jamaica West Indies. I was milking cows at the age of 3. My mother and father were people of the land. They grew their own food, farmed and reaped the crops of their labor! Everything was plentiful! Very early on in my young adult life, I started a residential cleaning business, and realized I enjoyed business. Later, I gave up ownership to concentrate on raising my son. As a single mother, I always have looked into innovative ways of making life better for us. I also have a passion for the culinary arts! I enjoy cooking! I get a deep satisfaction of stepping into the kitchen with no recipe, opening my cupboards and refrigerator, and then creating a meal that is nutritious and spectacular! While I grew up loving home-cooked Jamaican meals, I enjoy cuisines from around the world and immerse myself into making and creating my own recipes. One of those creation involves Sorrel (hibiscus). Sorrel is a fun Jamaican Christmas holiday drink with no shortage of rum and sugar. I began using the hibiscus to make a healthier version. After making my spicy hibiscus drink for family and friends, the demand quickly grew beyond my expectations. It became clear that I tapped into something special. My intention is for this drink to be consumed all year round -- not just as a festive holiday drink. Through my discoveries, I started making different fruit flavors of the drink, salad dressing, marinades, pepper sauce, chutney, and jams. Over the past 3.5 years, I've perfected the recipe and gathered a team to help bring Spicegrove to market.
