María Caridad's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy a biodigester and to stop buying firewood and avoid lung problems.

María Caridad's story

María Caridad lives in Tetla de la Solidaridad, Mexico. Like many farmers in her region, she used to buy firewood to power her farm, but this has become a problem now, thanks to the deforestation that her region suffers from; now trees are scarce, which makes it even more difficult for farmers to have access to energy with which they meet domestic needs. María Caridad plans to use a biodigester from Sistema Biobolsa to stop consuming wood, fossil fuels and chemical fertilizers from her farm and avoid lung problems by inhaling smoke.

With her Sistema Biobolsa biodigester she will transform the manure from her eighteen cows into renewable energy and organic fertilizer. Now, she and her family will be able to cook without smoke, stop buying wood and stop damaging the ecosystem. María Caridad's family will also increase their fruit and corn harvest in a productive way with the organic fertilizer that the biodigester will produce and give their soil the nutrients needed to reforest their land in Tetla de la Solidaridad, Mexico.

This loan represents 72% of the total price of the biodigester; the remaining part is paid directly by María Caridad.
