La Romana, La Romana, Dominican Republic / Retail

Cristo Vive 1 Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy merchandise to sell like: rice, oil, chicken, beans and phone cards amongst others.

Cristo Vive 1 Group's story

Gody lives in La Romana province in the Dominican Republic. She is the daughter of Haitians and she lives in a batey (rural communities for sugarcane workers), La Romana has some very poor communities with a lot of people, mainly Haitian immigrants.

Gody like any hard-working woman who fights for the progress of her family has been making a living with a business selling beans, rice oil, chicken and phone cards for five years.

Poverty forces the women of the Dominican Republic to start small businesses which help support their families. The little education that many of the women in this country have prevents them from gaining dignified employment. Gody says that her family is her motor that drives her to get up every day and work. She has two children at home and dreams of providing them with better education so that one day they might obtain a university degree. She also wants to have her own house.

Gody needs to buy merchandise like rice, beans, oil chicken and phone cards to continue with her business and generate more income.

Thank you for contributing to the Cristo Vive 1 group.
