Rugiatu's Female Farmers Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to pay for improved seed, organic inputs, and tractor rental which will allow these farmers to escape subsistence by farming a larger area with a higher yield.

Rugiatu's Female Farmers Group's story

Rugiatu K (first on left), featured borrower of Rugiatu's Female Farmers, is a young but accomplished Master Farmer in Makuna village who supports a family of 7. Rugiatu is passionate about education and helps organize the village children for schooling activities. She is also a seasoned farmer who lost her business during the Ebola crisis but now refuses to give up.

Rugiatu has organised a large group of other women who similarly had prospered before the crisis, then lost everything but now will not give up. All members are currently trapped in a cycle of subsistence and take out extremely high-interest loans for poor quality inputs during planting time. A no-interest Kiva loan will therefore enable this group of determined women to get back in business and ensure all their children can go to school.
