A loan helped to purchase better inputs to get a good yield and enhance living standards.

Hajara's story

Hajara is married and lives with her family in a humble mud house in a small village in the Kaduna state. In her community, farming is the primary occupation, and, like many committed smallholders, she dreams of growing her farm business.

Hajara is returning to work with Babban Gona this season, as she will get access to better-yielding seeds, fertilizers and other essential farm inputs that will boost her yield. Apart from increasing Hajara’s yield to ensure that her family never goes hungry, this loan will also help her earn up to 3 times her net income from selling her maize. Since she first joined Babban Gona in 2015, her happiest memory has been sending her children to school.

With lenders’ support to grow her farming business, Hajara is looking forward to a bountiful harvest. Hajara plans to use the profits from this season’s harvest to pay her children's school fees.
