Mercy Aminta's story

Sra. Mercy is 56 years old. It has been several years since her husband died. She has five adult children, three of whom live at her house in the canton of Montecristi, which is known for its rich pre-colonial culture and its handicrafts.

Mercy is a woman who enjoys earning her own living and not having to depend on her children. She has a shop in her house where on the weekends she prepares and sells delicious dishes such as “ceviche” (seafood marinated in citrus juice) or stews made with fish, shrimp, or mixed seafood that are served with pickled onions. Mercy only sells on those days because that is when she has the most customers come to her place, which means she is able to sell everything she prepares. She is able to earn a living in this manner and the loans have helped to finance her business.

This loan will be used to buy fish, shrimp, cassava, sodas, and various other items that she needs to prepare her food. Her dream is to have a large restaurant.
