'Alisi's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy iron and timber so that she can repair the roof of her house that was damaged by a cyclone.

'Alisi's story

Greetings from Tonga! This is 41-year-old ‘Alisi, who is from the central island of Tongatapu. She is married and has two children, both of whom currently attend school.

‘Alisi runs a weaving business where she sells ta’ovala [a traditional Tongan wraparound skirt] that she shows in the photograph and mats. She produces her products by weaving them herself at her home. ‘Alisi has been running this business for a while now because her life is much easier with the help of the income she earns. She used to work from morning until evening for five or six days a week. ‘Alisi says her business runs very actively from her house, so she needs to recover from the cyclone damage. A very strong cyclone hit Tonga in February of this year and affected many Tongan people.

‘Alisi has requested a loan in order to repair her house. She is confidently running her business to continue to help her family and also pay back her loan. Her vision and goals for the future are to build a new house for her family and to educate her two children, so she is doing her best to pay their school fees.
