Susana's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy groceries for her retail store.

Susana's story

Susana is 70 years old and from Vava’u, the southern islands in Tongatapu. She is married and has two children and four grandchildren. Her highest education level is form three of high school, but this hasn’t affected the way she operates her businesses. Susana has both a retail store and a weaving business, which she began within the past few years. She has participated in four loan cycles and successfully paid back each loan. SPBD offered her these loans to finance her businesses. Susana operates her retail store, but she also sells pandanus (a type of palm leaf) and weaves them into products for sale. She works at her businesses from morning until evening, six days a week. Susana says that the main challenge she faces is dealing with customers who buy her pandanus.

She needs a loan in order to buy more groceries for her retail store (shown in the photo from the back). Her vision is to renovate her house and maintain her business so that she can have more income to educate her children.
