Mujeres Central Group's loan finished fundraising, but these other borrowers need your support

A loan helped to buy tables and chairs to help her restaurant continue to grow.

Mujeres Central Group's story

The Friendship Bridge Trust Bank “Mujeres Central” is located on the banks of Lake Atitlan in Guatemala’s Central Highlands and is starting their second Kiva loan. The eight members of the trust bank have a variety of businesses, mostly weaving textiles and selling food.

Yesika is one of the youngest members of the trust bank. She is 24 years old, married, and has two children--one 10 years old and the other 7 months old. She graduated from a secondary trade school with a diploma in computers. She and her husband own a small restaurant.

She seeks a loan to buy tables and chairs to help her restaurant continue to grow. Yesika says, “I’m happy to be part of the Trust Bank because it gives me access to financial capital and teaches me each month. Learning about health has especially helped me protect my family.”

Friendship Bridge’s Microcredit Plus program facilitates Kiva loans and teaches the women members of the Trust Bank about health, business administration, leadership, and self-empowerment, among others things. The Microcredit Plus program’s combination of loans, education, and health seeks balanced development of the whole self.

Thanks Kiva lenders for believing in these women and giving them the opportunity to access capital and grow their businesses.
