Visible Clothing's story
This loan may have higher risk but higher impact. Learn more here. Problem: The clothing sector is typically characterized by oppressive sweatshop conditions with little or no transparency. In India, the sector employs over 40 million people, many who endure unsafe working conditions, low pay, and long hours. Solution: The Visible Clothing Company produces high quality, well designed, and ethically made clothes, providing dignified jobs for 37 people. By owning a fair trade tailoring center in Dharamshala, India, it guarantees a DNA of fairness behind its people, products, and pricing. The Visible Clothing Company has two in-house brands, Visible.Clothing and Eternal Creation, which it sells online and through wholesalers. Visible has developed strategic partnerships to help make its entire supply chain visible. An example of one of Visible's partners is Freeset, which employs women free from trafficking to produce handwoven fabrics. Additionally, Visible produces for multiple brands, designers, and individuals requesting bespoke orders. Visible's model allows it to compete with the current norms in fast fashion by having a quick turn-around, while still producing outstanding quality items in an ethical and fair way. Loan Use and Impact: A Kiva loan will enable Visible Clothing Company to purchase additional fabrics that they can make garments from. Visible is confident this will help them double in size in the next two years and have a greater impact on the clothing sector.
