Alice's loan finished fundraising, but these other borrowers need your support

A loan helped to buy different varieties of cereals, such as cowpeas, lentils, and rice, to sell in the local market to allow her to pay for her children's education so they can graduate.

Alice's story

Alice, who is an assiduous mother, is always smiling, hardworking, and honest. She comes from the Nyamira area of Kenya. She loves and treasures her children and will go the extra mile to make sure that they are comfortable because she is the sole breadwinner of her family. Eight years ago, she started farming, and today her farm is home to dairy cows, crops, and poultry. Every day she rises early and goes to her farm to earn a living. Although she makes profits from farming, she is not comfortable and has always wanted to increase her income by selling cereals (cowpeas, lentils, and rice). That is why she is seeking this loan to buy cereals.

Kenya's Nyamira area, one of the country's populated regions, has a high demand for cereals. This means that Alice could increase her profits and satisfy existing demand. Accessing funds has been a challenge for Alice, but she now feels relieved because Juhudi Kilimo is partnering with Kiva lenders to help hardworking women farmers like her turn their farming dreams into reality through training and loan financing. Alice believes that this loan will be of much help and that she will be able to satisfy the demand for cereals and pay tuition fees for her children.
