'akata's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy some more raw materials for her business such as mulberry and to pay for hiring a group of men to replant her mulberry plantation.

'akata's story

'Akata is 47 years old and the mother of five children. She's living together with her children in their own home while her husband lives and works overseas.

Since she's the only one responsible for raising up her children, she took a loan and used it to finance her business of making tapa.

She used to sell her tapa in the market when finished. However, last February, a cyclone hit Tonga and affected the lives of most of the Tongan people.

'Akata's mulberry plantation was destroyed by the cyclone and this caused a big loss to her business. She now faces a challenge of lack of materials.

She applied for a rehabilitation loan to help recover her business so she can continue earning income for her family and to pay back her loan.

She has a vision for the future of building a new house for her family.
