Stella's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to hire laborers and buy farm inputs, such as fertilizer and seeds, to enable her to grow more vegetables, reap maximum profits, and build a modern house.

Stella's story

Hello, Kiva community!

Stella (pictured in her simple house) is a hardworking farmer from a remote village in the Maua area of Kenya. Thanks to her daily efforts, she has managed to give her children a good start by providing them with a good-quality education.

On her farm, Stella grows crops and raises livestock. She also earns some income from a personal business. Stella was not lucky enough to attend any higher learning institution; her survival only depends on the knowledge and skills gained from her parents in farming.

The Maua area has good climatic conditions that favor horticultural farming, and that is why Stella is seeking a loan to hire laborers and buy farm inputs, such as fertilizer and seeds, to enable her to grow more vegetables, reap maximum profits, and increase her business.

Being a smallholder farmer and accessing funds in Kenya, especially around her remote village, is very challenging, but Stella feels relieved knowing there are institutions such as Kiva that help enterprising women like her. She is always working to improve her family’s living conditions (build a modern house) and educate all her children.

Through your loan, all her dreams will be fulfilled.
