Zubaida's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy an embroidery machine to facilitate her work and add more art to her designs.

Zubaida's story

Fashion designing is all about making the best use of one's creativity and skills. Zubaida is a 27-year-old single Lebanese woman who has became interested in fashion at a young age. "During my exams period in school, I used to spend the time sketching dresses and recycling my old clothes into fashionable pieces", explains Zubaida.

After middle school, she decided to attend a vocational institute as she was never interested in the regular school subjects. She then graduated with a bachelor's degree in Interior Design. During her studying period, Zubaida used what she was taught and she applied everything at home. "First, I used to apply all the techniques I learned on antiques and decorating items then I tried table and bed cloths until I decided to make it something applicable and wearable. That is when I decided to start working on t-shirts and outfits", says Zubaida.

In 2014, Zubaida launched her first fashion show and she returned home with only two pieces out of her designs. She was able to sell all of her products. Later on, she designed Moroccan caftans. Fashion shows and workshops kept Zubaida continuously busy and looking for development.

She decided to acquire this loan from Kiva's field partner, Al Majmoua, to buy an embroidery machine to facilitate her work and add more art to her designs. Zubaida hopes that her business expands and that her experience increases in the domain of fashion; the domain she loves.
