Hope's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped me expand my business coaching services and launch a national Social Justice Business Course.

Hope's story

My name is Hope Lehman and I am a passionate social entrepreneur that is committed to creating an equitable world through entrepreneurship, technology, and art. I was raised by a fierce Black single mother in Sacramento and Davis, California. My mother was a renaissance woman with 3 children, who started her own music and magazine business. She did this while navigating college, social services, and full-time work. However, my mother was never able to truly realize her goal of self sustainability. The year she launched her business, my mother was wrongfully arrested. She had to place her business on pause, present her case to city hall, and use what savings she had to pay for legal fees. This moment changed our lives forever because the financial, physical, and emotional impact was irreversible. I get my entrepreneurial spirit from my mother. I took this spirit with me to college learning as much as I could to gain a deeper understanding of my family history. I left college with a deep commitment to social change. After working full time for 3 years, I realized I wanted to do more to address the root causes of economic inequality. I was craving freedom to do the work I wanted to see in the world, so I too decided to start a business. I am continuing a legacy that is bigger than I am. My dream is to be able to help women of color like my mother (who have faced such tough barriers) grow sustainable businesses of their dreams. I dream of providing a safe space for them to come work, rest, vent and receive support. The success of their businesses will improve the quality of life for their families and their communities for generations to come. This is the vision I am manifesting.
