Shirley's story

Shirley is 25 and a small business owner from the city of Cartagena who makes and sells fried food, soups and fish. She has been running her business for the last 3 years and she started it in order to help her family, especially her mother who had no source of work.

Over time, she became a mother and saw the need to further develop her business because as a single mother and does not have the support of a spouse.

She sells fried food on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays and makes soup on Sundays with fish being sold to order every 15 days.

Shirley is applying for her first Kiva loan to buy essential supplies such as flour, meat, oil, eggs, napkins and bags in order to increase her sales and improve her business in the future.
