Lucia's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy a biodigester to reduce farm costs and improve the environment.

Lucia's story

Lucia is a farmer located in Ocotepec, Puebla. On her farm she has 25 pigs. She sells pork meat. This activity is her main source of income. She has two children and seeks to offer them a better quality of life by paying for their university studies. Lucia will do this by transforming the waste from her pigs into renewable energy and organic fertilizer to achieve her goals and improve the productivity of her farm and her family.

Lucia is investing in a bio-digester from Sistema Biobolsa to treat the manure of her pigs and at the same time eliminate flies, odours and contamination of groundwater sources in her region.

The biodigester will replace expensive LP gas with clean, renewable biogas energy and eliminate the chemical fertilizers she buys for her field so she can save money. She is sure that the yield of her land will naturally improve when she starts applying organic fertilizer, feeding the soil in a sustainable way.

This loan represents 61% of the price of the biodigester; the remaining part is paid directly by Lucia.
