Norma's story

Norma S. is from the city of Oroquieta. She is 55 years old. Norma is married and has 4 adult children. Norma owns a business buying and selling coconuts. Norma has been engaged in her business for over 20 years and earns approximately 8,000 Philippine pesos (about $171 US) a month for these activities. In 2005, Norma joined PMPC to gain access to financial services to help improve her living situation and ability to engage in business activities. Norma has successfully repaid a previous loan from PMPC. Norma is requesting a new loan of 12,000 pesos which will be used to invest in expanding the business. This loan will be the 9th loan taken out by Norma from PMPC. She plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business to improve the general living conditions of her family. About PMPC: Paglaum Multi-Purpose Cooperative (PMPC) is one of the most progressive cooperatives in northwestern Mindanao.
