Cecilia's loan finished fundraising, but these similar borrowers need your support

A loan helped to buy farm inputs, such as certified seeds and nutrient rich fertilizers, to help a widowed mom expand her horticulture farm so that she can make more profits.

Cecilia's story

Taking a glimpse at Cecilia (a widowed mom), one would never know the hardship she has been through because she has always emerged victorious through all those adversities.

Cecilia lives in the Nyahururu area of Kenya. She is blessed with lovely children who are her greatest motivation. She perseveres because she wants to provide a better future for them.

The biggest obstacles to Cecilia's success are the use of poor quality farming inputs such as seeds and fertilizers. Access to modern quality farm inputs is the pillar of the agricultural revolution. However, in Kenya, a developing country, fertilizers and seed allocation by the government is way below the needs of farmers. Since Juhudi Kilimo, which is in partnership with Kiva, ventured into the affairs of smallholder farmers in Kenya, farmers can attest that there has been a significant improvement in inputs availability than before.

Cecilia is seeking this loan to buy farm inputs such as certified seeds and nutrient rich fertilizers. This loan will enable her to improve her production through the use of quality farm inputs.

This intervention will help her fill the increasing demand for food in the market and, in the process, generate more income to repay the loan debt and elevate her family's quality of life.
