Ujjwal's loan finished fundraising, but these other borrowers need your support
A loan helped to source high quality cashmere and produce new handwoven products for upcoming artisan markets, providing incomes to 34 Nepali artisans.
Weaving in Nepal is a traditional skill passed from mothers to daughters each generation, with unique designs across the country's 36 ethnic groups. To preserve and protect traditional Nepalese weaving techniques, Ujjwal founded Crafted in Kathmandu. Crafted in Kathmandu now employs more than 30 artisans working across Nepal to produce handwoven cashmere scarves, shawls, ponchos, and other intricate pieces. Providing work to these women both maintains ancient skill sets and generates much-needed incomes for women to send their children to school and support their families. Ujjwal will use a loan of $8,000 to invest in raw materials, including high quality cashmere. This investment will allow Ujjwal to increase production of handwoven products, attend international markets, increase sales, and provide steady employment to women in Nepal.
